Chap 3 of Drawing Near by John Bevere speaks of "Protecting our hunger for God"

What are you feeding your mind these days? What are you preoccupied with? Are they lustful desires? Are they just about studies? Or are they about impressing others?

These worldly desires fuel your hunger for more; the more you think of such things, the more you hunger for such as these.

In essence, "We hunger for what we feed on."

Similarly, the more we pray and converse with God, with thanksgiving, with a heart of praise and worship and in reverence; "if we feed on a steady diet of the Word of God, it is easy to set aside time for prayer, and conversations on spiritual things will come easily and flow naturally. We will crave the presence of God and desire an intimacy with Him."

Proverbs 27:7 says, " A satisfied soul loathes the honeycomb."
What cares, desires and pleasures are you vulnerable to, that dulls your hunger for the "sweet honeycomb" of God's fellowship?

Proverbs 4:23 - "above all else, guard your heart." for the Lord "satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness." - Psalm 107:9
