Champions and Confidant

This weekend was a powerful one. The guys in church went to Mount Cootha where they engaged in interesting and challenging activities to build bonds and stretch their limits on becoming true champions in Christ. The girls, however, went for classes such as Self defence, Massaging and Make-up sessions. The massaging session, as many ppl put it, benefits their husbands and boyfriends more than for themselves. Agape love at its best. Lovely :))

The highlight was the night session where Pastor Wen'an and his wife, Leelian gave practical but important sharings to the guys and gals respectively. Theme for guys - what it means to be champions, and the gals - confidence.

Very very apt for the guys as Pastor Wen'an used Samson as the biblical champion to remind us that as much as guys want to be champions, champions are fallible. And we are to be constantly reminded of the pitfalls that we fall into - pride, lust, impatience and impulse. Also, laziness and procrastination are classic pitfalls. Having been central to our innermost struggles, it came as a "smack in the face" as Pastor reminds us so vividly of every point. But our loving God is forgiving and in His works of restoration. We prayed for His grace and forgiveness in repentance. Tough journey as Christians but we believe in our God of impossibilities - to overcome the temptations of the "angel" who himself believes in our living God.

The ladies, who were in the other Lecture room, were equally impacted by Leelian's sharing. Many gals teared as they were touched by God. It came as a surprise to me how confidence is such an issue in their life - as Evelyn shared, the constant struggle to find security in every aspect of their lives. "So you guys must remember to be more sensitive to gals" - Evelyn. Very good sharing with her as I got to understand the opposite gender better. As I reflect, I agree with every nod of my head. If only I knew earlier.. But God's timing is perfect amen.

Beyond these weaknesses, it's impt to submit to one another in love, as God has loved us. To encourage and empower each other - brothers and sisters - in love. Bottomline, champion men and confident women make a strong and Godly relationship. And I cant agree more.

Seek first His kingdom and be deep rooted in faith and spiritual growth that one day when God brings the right partner, you can say "I'm ready for a relationship." Just as you love God, you serve Him wholeheartedly and God will reward you exponentially with a "prepared" heart and soul to complement your partner in a healthy relationship in future.

"Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." John 20:29

Sidenote:
1) Jay left for Belfast, UK this evening. Will miss him cos he's such a humble and jovial brother. Will miss such a nice housemate. Thanks for blessing Judah 6 in your simple ways.

2) Will be off to Goldcoast for a "Getaway" - church district camp come Friday- Sunday. Which means I have Week 20-29 to finish in 4 days. As in from scratch! Tough but not impossible. Pray pray pray.. no commitments this time as I often than not break it. Pray for "Getaway 2009" to be one of meaningful bonding and spiritual breakthroughs. Thanks mates^^
