For most part of my pre-med life, I've been involved with kids (BB, Relief Teaching and Sunday School). Prolly cos I've been strongly influenced by my mentor, Mr Chan.

Paediatrics came as a natural choice to specialise in. But the recent short encounter in the paeds eye clinic prompted me to think twice. Met an infant who has Crouzon's syndrome and my heart sank. His craniofacial features were rather 'distorted' with obvious exophthalmos (which explains his admission as an eye patient) and hearing the baby's difficult breathing was much to bear.

Was reminded of the time when I encouraged a sister-in-Christ, J*, that these children go through them for a reason. But I could not help but to ask God, "Why?"... Heart-wrenching...

As for now, I'm thankful to be a doctor (specialised in anything but gynae or paeds), AND serve in Sunday School (: Best combi?

Much to tell when I enter gynae in Rotation 4 and Paeds in Rotation 5. Lots of seeking and moulding, for sure!
