First day of GP

First day of GP has been fantastic!

Performed 2 Fluvax injections, witnessed an excision of sebaceous cyst (imagine squeeze-ing out a huge pimple of abt 5cm in diameter), a infiltrative Basal Cell Carcinoma, a 11yo baby's full health check up (always fix your eyes on the baby! other than Jesus of course haha.), and many others.

Best of all are that the doctors, nurses and staff are so welcoming and nice! Heart this side of Australia and i do hope i can bring this communication skills and rapport over to SG. Singapore do need to learn from Australia. To be more encouraging and loving. I see Christ-likeness in them. :))

One of the staff asked me what I would love to specialise in and my first thoughts were Paediatrics and Oncology. Clearly, they represent what I've been through. And then I thought, Paeds and Geriatrics would be great as well. Talk about extreme of age groups :)

But deep down, I know what matters most is where the needs are in the near future. And Geriatrics is one potential group. I have constant images of the sick and poor elderly wondering about in Chinatown, Singapore. (one reason why I'm homesick too lol) This might be a sign from God, just as He's placed me in Aussie for a purpose. Must seek God in this! You dont become a doctor to be rich (at least not in Singapore) but to help others in need.

I echo Mr Ong Ye Kung's view on Long term gain over Short term pain! He's featured on today's Straits Times as one of the younger few representing PAP in the upcoming elections. He's only 41yo. (Maybe, just maybe.... I would like to represent Sg in this manner too)

Here's a great reminder from God, in Philippians 2:3-4:
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others."
