It's been a long while since I last updated and def impossible to even jot down the little things that happen each day as God poured out his blessings. Oh, and showers of blessings literally as Brisbane experiences a full week of rain (thankfully not cats and dogs but more drizzles than naught). A clear sign of Hello Autumn Bye Summer.. Time flies!
The ups and downs..
Studies have begun but engine's at 15%. Time to pick up as it's Week 8 and that's a 5% exam on Week 12. 50 killer MCQ's. Curriculum has been very very interesting and thus far I'm glad God has opened this door. Weekly PBL's where we learn and discuss about new cases and disease clusters and pathology lectures where we learn to identify the different diseased organs and mechanisms.
Went on patient visits with Ian and I was pleasantly surprised by how willing the Caucasians were to let us interview them as well as physically examining them. You get to learn so much more thru clinical visits and trying to diagnose them while figuring the mechanisms that lead up to that stage.
Oh, and we witnessed an autopsy of a patient who collapsed just the day before. Saw how the body was cut up, organs removed and sliced to identify the cause of death. Definitely not wanna be a coroner cos it's sad.. When u teach, you deal with happy n jovial but sometimes naughty kids; when u treat a patient, you see sick ppl every day and when u perform autopsies, you see dead ppl. I would have to learn how to deal with interacting with sick ppl but that'd be another story altogether.
So yeap, studies have been pretty exciting thus far. More speed ahead and yea this year onwards, the exam format's changed dramatically. Instead of 25% mid year and 70% FYE, the assessment criteria is rather spread out such that the majority of each assessment is 5% and 9% respectively. As what a fren says, it helps you to pass but makes it tougher for one to achieve good grades. Gambate.. And I prefer this mode cos it keeps you on your toes all the time.
To being a better patient carer, God bless.
Lifegroup's being conducted at James' and my house (we're living together, not in the gay sense but yah) every Friday and being the "host", it's been rather tiring to prepare and clean up before and after that. But yea I guess it's all worth it. It's been weeks of orientation where we see new freshies coming to our Lifegroup and it's really encouraging to see the large crowd in the living room. Getting to know one another and of course know more about God thru worship and praise and group discussions.
For the last 2 weeks, havent gone for church and supplemented that by watching the weekly updated sermons on aldersgate.sg website. Yes, do miss Fairfield, SG, AMC, family and friends back home. But i gathered it's not a good thing as u're not fed spiritually more than if u're physically praising God with everyone else in church.
Yesterday's Mosaic Sunday and I'm glad I served as an usher as it was fun. Rather walk around helping than just chatting with friends. haa.. Performances were superb and meaningful esp for the newcomers to know how SIN draws us away from God but He sent his only Son, Jesus to die for us. It was timely for us to know how we shouldnt develop a superficial r/s with God but one that should be strong and loving. More so than friendship and BGR.
And I'm thankful God pointed me back to what is expected of me in these 2 areas - studies and spiritual needs. Also, the need to be more open to others and thus they will open up to you as well. Only then, will it facilitate a healthy atmosphere to encourage one another.
As is in Hebrews 10:24-25, where we're reminded to not forget to spur one another on toward love and good deeds in Christ Jesus.
Friends, I just wanna direct you to these 2 videos which truly inspired me last night as I watched. Reminded of the good ol' days and just cant wait to get back and touch the lives of these children. Teaching is a noble task if you care to love.
If you're a teacher or to-be, if you're a Fairsian or ex Fairfian, if you're away from home and need meaning once again, and more so if your life has been impacted by one or more of these teachers, this would be inspiring. Our God is a God of love and He always loves you and I.
1. Featuring Mr David Chan, whom I proudly call my spiritual papa. Have seen no greater man than this. Miss him loads..

2. How rare an opportunity to witness principals coming together to sing out a love song, despite their hectic schedules. This song speaks of their love.
