2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Praise be to God and Father of out Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
A friend just came back from a Cambodia trip recently and was so touched by what she's seen and experienced that she literally "live" for Cambodia now- talks, ponders, sings, eats and sleeps of Cambodia. She's MAD about Cambodia and just wanna go back and Make A Difference. Though didnt get to hear much as she shared, but i'm sure she had a great time.
You dont need a reason, nor compassion to go to such places.. You'll come back with more..
You'll be wanting to go back and experience the poor and simple, yet happy lifestyle. This is one of the reasons why we push for overseas trip to such places - to experience sth you cant get from a urban city in Singapore.
My friend who went to Prek Omperl recently is dying to go back again next week. "Just to follow up", he says.. And they mean more than anything to him.
I choose not to go to rural areas for elective this year, but I believe I will do so in Year 4. By then, I might have decided to go into missions. And with that, you need to be called by God and empowered with compassion for the poor and sick.
