Char Siew Face-off

Thanks to Jo and Dom's bickering about where's the best place to get the best Char Siew in Singapore. we (the UQ students) decided to meet up and try the 2 locations' char siew..

1st up! Kay Lee Roast Meat Coffeeshop along Upper Paya Lebar Road... Char Siew was well caramelised and fatty enough.. Abit of burnt look but strangely, you cant taste any charcoal burnt taste.. You need to be there to try it! I give it 9/10.. As what Dom says, when you're there, you just need to try the char siew... cos it makes everything else "wasteful"... We ordered Hakka Salty chicken and roast pork.. But Char Siew beats them Heads down..

To end it off, Ian and I each bought 15 bucks worth of Char Siew home.. Chris bought 10 bucks worth..

Next! Went to Foong Kee Coffeeshop, 6 Keong Saik Road, Chinatown.. The Char Siew was actually more FATTY (note it's not just "Fat" with the capital F but F-A-T!! Somehow, it's nicer than normal average Char Siew you get from other hawker centres.. Less caramelised but still as juicy.. Ordered a bowl of Wan-ton and it was superb...

In all, 2 plates of char siew, 2 plates of rice (each), 2 cups of drinks (each), Hakka Salty Chicken, Roast Pork, 2 bowls of Lotus soup, 1 bowl of Wanton soup.. in 2 hours!

As I tell my friend, it's a good way to grow fat Fat FAT!!! =)
