Medical Sports Day (20 Feb)

This is no conventional Sport's Day where you see 8 running lanes and people cheering on the participants to outbeat and outlast one another.

For UQ Medical students, it's an annual event where the Year 1, 2, 3 and 4's revisit Hippocrates oath and light up the torch (akin to Olympic) at Herston Medical School. The Year 4's recite the oath at Herston and began travelling (jogging) towards UQ, subsequently passing on the torch to Year 3's, then to Year 2's and finally to Year 1's which is us.

The crazy thing was you get to see hundreds of ladies and gentlemen running in their "scrubs" (those surgeon attire you see on TV) running along the roads, river and through the city. Imagine the sight!
Of course, Aussies.. being Aussies, they stop over at pubs along the way for a quick hydrated beer or liquor.

All dressed up and excited!

Advertising for "Vitamin water"
Year 1's stationed at Regatta Hotel bar, awaiting the torch's arrival
Happy lot.. pouring water over each other to fight the hot sun..
See the colourful costumes donned
Year 2-4's waiting to cross the road to hand over the torch to the Year 1's.
Can you spot the torch?
Hoorays and cheers for completing 3/4 of the race.
Waiting for Citycat Ferry
Reaching the "Fun Fair" where all the fun began..
We drank a mouthful load of "Spirits"

That's me.. A well day spent!
